ROLE PLAYING ETIQUETTE
From the standard of writing here, it is clear that a lot of our players have role played before. However, for the benefit of those who haven’t, we are posting a small thread here about the importance of following etiquette in role playing. We would like everyone to read it though.

:: Relating to that, it is important that you COMMUNICATE with each other over plots and relationships between characters. It has come to our attention that perhaps some players aren’t aware of boundaries when it comes to RPing. We appreciate that it can be hard to understand. Unfortunately this can lead to hassle, arguments, resentment, hurt and even to players quitting the game. As we obviously don’t want that, we think it is important that we get a few things clear so that we can keep the peace and keep our fantastic game going for a long time to come.
:: The plot pages are there for a reason. Along with this, we have the PM facility, or the messaging system is there for players who want to use it. These facilities help open the lines of communication between players. Generally plot pages are easy going. However, if you want a particular relationship for your character and another, you must PM the player and get permission. It is bad manners to agree to one thing and then presume you can go on and presume more than that. Be it romantic, best friends, enemies, whatever: the decision is up to the player of that character, not you. Of course, things progress and turn into other things, that is part of life, but again, it must be decided between both players.
If your thread says “Open”, then anyone can join it. Please welcome new players into threads and respect the fact that they had the courage to jump in if it says “Open”. It takes a lot of courage when you’re new to join in. If a player joins a thread, DON’T stop responding. It is the height of bad manners to stop replying in a thread just because it isn’t the character you particularly wanted. If you want to RP with a particular character, PM them and start a thread with their name in the title. There… simple isn’t it?
:: Please for the love of Merlin *rolls eyes*, never presume that it is alright to dictate to another player what their character should do. NEVER force a situation onto another player. If they have made clear that they don’t want a particular plot line with your character then you cannot push it or try to force it onto them. All that will do is cause trouble. Below are two hypothetical scenarios, very simplistic and a bit silly but you get the jist hopefully!
Example 1: Harry and Jane’s players are chatting in the cbox, talking about how Jane is going to eventually go on a date with Jim. Jim’s player comes on and raises an eyebrow because he knows nothing about this and it was never discussed.
Example 2: Jane and Jill are in the same dorm room. Jill talks to another character about how Jane is her best friend and they did this and that together. Jane’s player hasn’t a clue what this is about.
:: At the end of the day, it’s just RP. We shouldn’t be taking it seriously. We appreciate that perhaps players might think that there shouldn’t be rules and there shouldn’t be boundaries with that in mind. But frankly, you wouldn’t force someone to be your friend| BF| GF| mortal enemy| whatever in real life [at least we hope you wouldn’t!]. You wouldn’t keep suggesting and pushing for it. Of course not! You’d realize you were so much more valuable than that and you’d go and find someone who appreciated you for the amazing person you are!! So why do it here? If a player doesn’t want their character involved with yours in whatever scenario, that is their prerogative and if you can’t handle that, it’s your problem not theirs. This is not actually a magical site. LOL! Trying to brainwash or do Jedi Mind Tricks on people won't work. [that last bit was a joke btw! ^^][/ul]
Basically ...
Life is short. Enjoy the game. Communicate with each other. Make an effort with everyone. Don’t take it too seriously. Don’t force plotlines and scenarios. If a player isn’t willing to interact in a particular plotline, that’s their prerogative. You can then just go find someone who will. They are out there! *gg*. To be honest, we feel that us Admins are more than reasonable as Administration and we don't hassle players or PM you about rule breaking. We respect you as mature individuals and presume you can look after yourselves. It is a lot more relaxed here than on a lot of other sites. As such, we expect respect in return.
Thank you so much for taking the time out to read this. We appreciate it and hope it is of some help. Thanks again to you all for your dedication to the site and I hope you will all still be here for a long time to come. We appreciate every single one of you and are glad to have you. If any of you are confused, worried or concerned about anything, please never hesitate to contact us about anything. We are here and glad to help.
